CHAPTER FIFTY SIX: The Trial of Hearts

Casanova Hospital

For the first time in months, Aaron wasn't thinking about surgeries.

He wasn't thinking about mafia business.

He wasn't thinking about enemies.

He was thinking about Divyanka.

And Divyanka was currently sitting in the passenger seat of his car, holding the bouquet of sunflowers he had given her the previous day.

She looked happier than he had ever seen her.

Aaron glanced at her.

She was smiling at the flowers.

Again.

"You're staring at them."

Divyanka looked at him.

"And you're staring at me."

Aaron smirked.

"Maybe."

Divyanka laughed.

"You know what?"

"What?"

"I still can't believe you proposed."

Aaron shook his head.

"I asked you on a date."

"Same thing."

"It isn't."

"It is."

"It isn't."

"It is."

Aaron sighed dramatically.

"God help me."

Divyanka started laughing.

Aaron couldn't help smiling.

This woman had somehow made his life brighter.

And that scared him.

Because he knew exactly how much he loved her.

---

The rest of the day passed peacefully.

They visited a small café.

Walked through the city.

Ate lunch together.

Argued over ice cream flavors.

Divyanka insisted chocolate was superior.

Aaron disagreed.

And somehow they spent twenty minutes debating it.

That evening they returned to the mansion.

As they entered, Divyanka noticed another bouquet waiting.

Sunflowers.

Again.

She looked at Aaron.

"You bought more?"

Aaron looked away.

"They looked nice."

Divyanka smiled.

"You are secretly sweet."

Aaron immediately denied it.

"No."

"You are."

"No."

"You are."

"No."

She laughed.

Aaron silently accepted defeat.

Germany High Court

The next morning.

The courtroom was packed.

Reporters.

Lawyers.

Journalists.

Everyone wanted to see the battle between Bethley Group and Valken International.

Kavira stood on one side.

Karl stood on the other.

The sight alone hurt.

Because she still loved him.

No matter how much she tried not to.

No matter how angry she was.

No matter how much she told herself she was done.

Her heart still chose him.

And she hated it.

---

The judge entered.

Everyone stood.

The hearing began.

Viktor sat beside Kavira.

Karl sat across from them.

Neither Karl nor Kavira looked away from each other for more than a few seconds.

The tension was impossible to ignore.

Finally—

Kavira stood.

"Your Honor."

The courtroom became silent.

"My client, Viktor Reinhardt, is innocent of the accusations made against him."

She took a breath.

"Karl Casanova's actions were based on assumptions."

She looked directly at Karl.

"And courts do not punish people based on assumptions."

Karl's jaw tightened.

Kavira continued.

"We have evidence that Bethley Group's headquarters were damaged."

She held up documents.

"And we also possess recordings proving that Mr. Casanova admitted responsibility for damaging my client's property."

Murmurs spread through the courtroom.

The judge examined the files.

Karl remained silent.

---

Meanwhile...

Inside his office far away from the courtroom...

A man sat comfortably.

Watching everything through a screen.

Watching the trial.

Watching Karl.

Watching Kavira.

Watching Viktor.

And laughing.

A slow.

Dangerous.

Satisfied laugh.

"Perfect."

His fingers tapped against the desk.

"Everything is happening exactly as planned."

He wasn't interested in the companies.

He wasn't interested in money.

He was interested in chaos.

And this was only the beginning.

---

Unknown Location

Another screen turned on.

Several photographs appeared.

Locations.

Buildings.

Company layouts.

Security routes.

Private entrances.

All confidential.

All stolen.

The mysterious man smiled.

Because he knew exactly where the information came from.

Arshia.

The files she had secretly photographed.

The documents she had sent.

Every piece of information had reached him.

Without Karl.

Without Aaron.

Without Damon.

Without anyone noticing.

Or so he thought.

---

Courtroom

The hearing continued.

Kavira presented another document.

Another witness.

Another argument.

Every word hurt her.

Because every argument she made was against Karl.

The man she once called home.

The man she once trusted with her life.

And every time she looked at him...

She remembered.

The hospital.

The bullet.

The nights he stayed awake beside her.

The way he carried her when she couldn't walk.

The way he looked at her as if she was his entire world.

Her chest tightened.

She looked away.

---

Karl noticed.

Of course he noticed.

He always noticed.

And for a second...

He forgot the courtroom.

Forgot the case.

Forgot Viktor.

All he saw was her.

And the sadness in her eyes.

---

Viktor leaned closer to Kavira.

"You're distracted."

Kavira immediately straightened.

"I'm not."

"You are."

"I'm working."

Viktor smiled slightly.

"You're thinking about him."

Kavira froze.

Viktor sighed.

"You still love him."

She didn't answer.

Because silence was answer enough.

---

Across the courtroom...

Karl saw Viktor talking to her.

Saw her standing beside him.

Saw Viktor's eyes on her.

And suddenly the case became the least important thing in the room.

Aaron, sitting behind Karl, noticed immediately.

"Don't."

Karl didn't look away.

Aaron sighed.

"You are literally in court."

Karl finally spoke.

"I know."

"Then stop looking at him like you want to kill him."

"I said I know."

Aaron rubbed his forehead.

"This family will be the reason I lose my medical license."

---

Elsewhere...

The mysterious man watched everything.

Still smiling.

Still amused.

Still hidden.

And beside him sat a file.

One labeled:

KAVIRA CASANOVA

Another labeled:

ARSHIA

And another labeled:

PHASE TWO

The man slowly closed the files.

His smile widened.

"Let's see how much longer they survive before they realize who is really pulling the strings."

And for the first time...

The reader could understand one terrifying truth.

Friedrich Casanova had never been the mastermind.

He had only been another piece on the board.

And the real player had finally started moving.
