Morning sunlight spilled across the dining hall of the Casanova mansion.
Everything looked peaceful.
Too peaceful.
Kavira sat lazily on the chair, wrapped in a soft oversized hoodie, resting her cheek against her palm while eating pancakes half-asleep.
Across from her, Karl Casanova watched her silently while drinking coffee.
“You’re falling asleep while chewing.”
Kavira looked offended immediately.
“I’m trying my best.”
Karl smirked faintly.
“No. Your pancake is trying its best.”
She glared at him weakly.
“I’m bored.”
“That sounds dangerous.”
Kavira ignored him dramatically and stretched.
“It’s been two weeks since we came back from Mauritius,” she complained.
“I’m becoming lazy staying at home.”
Karl raised an eyebrow.
“You sleep sixteen hours willingly.”
“That’s self-care.”
“That’s hibernation.”
Kavira pointed her fork at him.
“Don’t attack me in the morning.”
Karl actually chuckled softly.
God.
That sound still surprised her sometimes.
Kavira leaned forward slightly.
“I wanna go to the hospital today.”
Karl’s expression changed immediately.
“Why?”
“I miss Divyanka,” she said simply.
“And Aaron.”
“And everyone.”
Karl narrowed his eyes suspiciously.
“You miss the hospital?”
“I miss the people there.”
He sighed softly.
“Fine.”
Kavira’s eyes lit up instantly.
“Really?”
“Yes. Before you start emotionally blackmailing me.”
She smiled brightly.
And Karl looked at her for a second too long.
Still not used to how much power that smile had over him.
Casanova Hospital
The moment Karl and Kavira entered the hospital lobby, nurses greeted them respectfully.
Kavira waved happily at everyone while Karl walked beside her like the human embodiment of danger.
Then suddenly—
Karl stopped walking.
His gaze darkened instantly.
Kavira looked ahead.
And there he was.
Raven Vasiliev sat comfortably near the reception area with his hand wrapped in fresh bandages.
Again.
Kavira blinked.
“Why is he here again?”
Karl looked like he wanted to shoot someone.
Raven noticed them immediately.
And smirked.
“Ah,” he drawled lazily, “the royal couple.”
Karl stared at him coldly.
“What the fuck are you doing here?”
Raven lifted his injured hand innocently.
“Recovery.”
“You’re reopening the wound yourself.”
Raven smiled.
“Allegedly.”
Kavira looked between them suspiciously.
“Wait… are you actually cutting yourself intentionally?”
Raven looked at her dramatically.
“Doctor Divyanka’s hands heal me emotionally.”
Karl looked disgusted.
“You need psychiatric help.”
Raven pointed at him.
“And you need anger management. Yet here we are.”
Before Karl could murder him publicly—
Aaron appeared from behind.
Already irritated.
“He came again,” Aaron said flatly.
“I can see that.”
Raven leaned back comfortably.
“You people act like I’m unwelcome.”
“You are,” Aaron and Karl said together.
Kavira burst out laughing instantly.
Raven looked offended.
“I’m being bullied.”
Later — Restaurant
After dragging Kavira away from the chaos, Karl finally took her and Aaron to a private restaurant nearby.
The atmosphere was calmer there.
Warm lights.
Soft music.
No bleeding mafias.
Kavira sat beside Karl while Aaron checked messages on his phone silently.
“You know,” Kavira said casually, “Raven is weirdly funny.”
Karl looked at her slowly.
“No.”
“What?”
“Don’t encourage him.”
Kavira laughed softly.
“You’re jealous.”
Karl deadpanned.
“Of a psychopath cutting himself for attention?”
Aaron muttered without looking up,
“To be fair, it’s working.”
Karl glared at him.
Traitor.
Suddenly—
someone bumped into Kavira’s shoulder hard while passing by.
Her fork fell.
“Ouch—”
She looked up.
And froze.
Her entire body stiffened instantly.
Karl noticed immediately.
The man standing there smirked slowly.
Kian Sehgal.
Her ex.
“Oh,” Kian laughed mockingly,
“Kavira.”
Karl’s expression darkened dangerously.
Kian looked her up and down shamelessly.
“Wow,” he said. “You upgraded your clothes at least.”
Aaron immediately looked up now too.
Kavira quietly stood.
“Kian,” she said coldly, “leave.”
But Kian stepped closer instead.
“So this is the husband?” he mocked, looking at Karl.
“Damn. You moved on fast.”
Karl slowly stood up.
And the air shifted instantly.
Dangerous.
Deadly.
Kian still didn’t realize who he was talking to.
“You know,” Kian continued smugly,
“she used to cry for me every night.”
Kavira’s face paled slightly.
Karl saw it.
And something inside him snapped silently.
“Kian,” Kavira warned quietly,
“stop.”
But Kian laughed bitterly.
“What? Telling the truth hurts?”
Then suddenly—
he grabbed her wrist.
Wrong move.
Very wrong move.
“You still look scared when you see me,” he whispered harshly.
“Pathetic—”
Before he could finish—
Karl moved.
Fast.
So fast the chair behind him crashed loudly.
Karl grabbed Kian’s hand violently and twisted it away from Kavira.
A horrifying crack echoed.
Kian screamed instantly.
The restaurant fell silent.
Karl stepped in front of Kavira completely.
Protective.
Terrifying.
“You touched my wife,” Karl said quietly.
That quietness was scarier than shouting.
Kian held his wrist painfully.
“Who the hell are—”
Karl punched him.
Hard.
Blood instantly spilled from Kian’s lip as he crashed against a table.
“KARL,” Kavira gasped softly.
But Karl was already walking toward him again.
Kian looked terrified now.
Finally understanding.
Wrong person.
Wrong woman.
Wrong mistake.
Karl grabbed Kian by the collar and slammed him against the wall.
“You hit her?” Karl asked quietly.
Kian stayed silent.
Karl smiled slightly.
And that smile terrified everyone.
“You should pray she’s standing here,” he whispered.
“Because if she wasn’t…”
His grip tightened.
“…you would leave this restaurant in pieces.”
Kavira’s breathing became uneven behind him.
Memories returning.
Fear.
Shouting.
Violence.
Aaron noticed instantly.
“Karl,” Aaron warned sharply.
“She’s panicking.”
Karl froze.
Immediately.
He turned around.
And saw Kavira trembling slightly.
That was enough.
His entire rage disappeared instantly.
Karl released Kian like trash and walked back toward her quickly.
“Kavira,” he said softly, holding her face gently.
“Look at me.”
Her breathing shook.
“I’m okay,” she whispered weakly.
Karl’s eyes softened immediately.
“No,” he murmured.
“You’re scared.”
And suddenly—
he stopped caring about Kian completely.
Because protecting her peace mattered more than revenge ever would.
