CHAPTER THIRTY-TWO: Midnight — When Karl Found the Truth

The mansion was silent.

Too silent.

Karl woke up instinctively—

that same pull in his chest that always told him something is wrong.

The clock read 2:17 AM.

Kavira wasn’t beside him.

His jaw tightened.

He got up quietly and followed the faint sound—

a broken, painful breath.

From the study.

He pushed the door open.

And froze.

Kavira stood in front of the mirror, one hand pressed to her throat, the other clutching a notebook.

Her face was pale.

Tears streamed down silently.

She opened her mouth.

“Ahh—”

A strangled, broken sound came out.

Pain twisted her face.

She tried again.

“N—ngh…”

She coughed.

Blood dotted the sink.

Karl crossed the room in two strides.

“Kavira.”

She flinched.

He gently grabbed her wrists.

“What are you doing?” His voice trembled—not anger. Fear.

She shook her head rapidly, tears falling harder.

She grabbed the notebook with shaking hands and wrote:

I need my voice back.

I don’t want you to speak for me forever.

Karl’s chest cracked.

“You’re hurting yourself,” he said softly.

She wrote again, more desperately.

If I don’t try, I’ll lose it forever.

Karl swallowed hard.

He cupped her face carefully, thumbs wiping her tears.

“You don’t have to bleed to prove you’re strong,” he whispered.

“You’ve already survived hell.”

She leaned into his touch, breaking silently.

Karl rested his forehead against hers.

“I’ll wait,” he said.

“Even if it takes months. Even years.”

“But don’t torture yourself alone. Not again.”

She nodded slowly.

He picked her up gently.

“No more midnight battles,” he murmured.

“From now on—we fight together.”

Hospital — The Argument That Exploded~

The next day.

Casanova Hospital.

Divyanka stood near Kavira’s room, arms crossed, eyes burning.

Karl stepped out after checking Kavira’s vitals.

Divyanka didn’t waste a second.

“You think love fixes everything?” she snapped.

Karl turned slowly.

“Watch your tone.”

“No,” Divyanka shot back.

“I’m done watching my tone around mafias who think power equals protection.”

Karl’s eyes darkened.

“She’s alive because of me.”

“She almost died because of you!” Divyanka shouted.

People stopped in the corridor.

Karl stepped closer.

“You have no idea what I did to save her.”

“I know exactly what you are,” Divyanka said, voice shaking.

“Guns. Blood. Fear. That’s your world.”

“And you dragged her into it.”

Karl clenched his fists.

“She chose to stay.”

“She stayed because she was broken!” Divyanka yelled.

“Because everyone before you failed her!”

Karl’s jaw snapped shut.

“You think I don’t hate this life?” he growled.

“You think I wanted her hurt?”

Divyanka laughed bitterly.

“Then leave it.”

Silence.

Karl’s eyes flickered.

“You can’t,” she continued.

“And that’s why I don’t trust you.”

Karl stepped forward, towering.

“I would burn this world,” he said coldly,

“if it meant she could breathe without pain.”

Divyanka’s hands shook.

“And yet,” she said quietly,

“the world keeps bleeding around her.”

Karl looked away for the first time.

Divyanka suddenly lost control.

She shoved his chest hard.

“You don’t get to play savior after building hell!”

Gasps filled the hallway.

Guards moved.

Karl raised a hand, stopping them.

He looked at Divyanka—eyes red, voice low.

“Hit me if you want,” he said.

“Blame me if you must.”

“But don’t you dare imply I’d ever choose this life over her.”

Divyanka’s voice broke.

“I’m scared for her,” she whispered.

Karl exhaled sharply.

“So am I.”

They stood there—

two people loving the same girl in different ways—

both terrified of losing her.

And inside the room,

Kavira watched it all silently,

hand pressed to her throat,

heart aching—

because for the first time,

she realized how fiercely she was fought for.
